Description
An Airstrike conducted by the Sri Lankan Army during the final stages of the war resulted in her death.

Bombers, fighter jets and helicopters carried out airstrikes on civilian safe zones declared by the Sri Lankan government and no fire zones declared by the military. Frantic mothers died clutching their babies.  The Sri Lankan military buried alive the severely wounded civilians who were unable to get up and flee for their lives.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) had affixed their trademark signature atop the roofs of temporary air hospitals in the security zone in order for air force helicopters and fighter jets to be able to identify these facilities. Despite this clear identification of an ICRC medical facility, airstrikes were carried out and civilians, doctors and ICRC members/volunteers alike were killed.
