Kumutha was found dead with severe wounds to her neck.
Sinna Urany is located nearly 4 km north of Batticaloa town. Her dead body was found 50 feet away from the road inside bushes.

Mattakalappu Police suspected that Kumutha was kidnapped from her house before being murdered. Area residents said they suspected the Armed Forces to have carried out the murder.
